Full & aromatic. White flowers & unripe mango.
VIKARUS Heliodor 2019 has a pale yellow colour.
On the nose it’s full and aromatic. The bouquet is interesting with white flowers, citrus notes and a tropical side, unripe mango let’s say. There is an herbaceous side to it, too, with nettle or perhaps tomato leaf.
On the mouth it’s round, smooth and warm. It’s pleasing and very easy drinking.
The finish is pleasant and medium long.
Note that the wines sampled here were provided to me for free, by the producer or a stockist of theirs.
White wine grape
A white wine grape variety of the species Vitis vinifera, Pinot gris, pinot grigio, or Grauburgunder is a white wine grape variety of the species Vitis vinifera. It is thought to be a pinot noir mutant clone with a grayish-blue fruit, hence the name, but the grapes can range in color from brownish pink to black and even white. The grapes grow in small pine cone-shaped clusters, which may have given it the name pinot. This grape’s wines range in color from a deep golden yellow to copper and even a light shade of pink, and it’s one of the most common grapes for skin-contact wine.Link to here... | Derived from 'Pinot gris' on Wikipedia
VIKARUS is a start-up in the wine world. The project was kicked off by a small group of students at the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL). They knew the region, they knew its wine, they knew that young drinkers, and found it rather passé. Their mission became the revival of Lavaux wine among young, affluent consumers.Link to here...
